I is for IDA

For my final major project I have been looking at the work of Edward Lear and began to create his alphabet in different medias. I just stumbled across the work of Edward Gorey who created his own alphabet, but with disturbing undertones which I feel fits much better with this ink style I have been getting addicted to lately.

A was an ant

A was an ant
Who seldom stood still
And who made a nice house
In the side of a hill.
I thought it’s about time I get away from the computer and get on the watercolours since I’ve never really used them before... quite fun actually. This is for my final major project, I am going to create a full alphabet using the words of Edward Lear.

Revolution Is My Name

I think I'm slightly obsessed with this font right now (OldSansBlack), WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??? (Don’t answer) it's just a nice font, that's all. This was an experiment to see if I can create something typographic and restrain myself from smashing it to pieces... I DID IT WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Flesh Into Gear

I think the unlucky band this week that is going to get overkilled on my MP3 is going to be CKY, so I thought I’d create something typographic using one of my fav fonts at the moment: OldSansBlack... I’ve been using it for everything lately.

Mike Tierney Logo

Three posts in one day, call 999 because I am on fire WOOOOO. For a university project I got to design a identity for myself. I thought the logo I originally had subtracted attention from the name... and looked a bit like Optimus Prime, I also wanted it to be purely typographic.

DEAD BATTERIES

For a University project I created a typeface using objects, one of which was sugar... when it came to taking the photos of each letter, I kept getting “BATTERIES DEPLETED, BATTERIES DEPLETED, BATTERIES DEPLETED” so this is the result of that.

Adelphi 25th Anniversary
This year on October 1st it is the 25th Anniversary of The New Adelphi Club in Hull, celebrating twenty-five years of live music at the Ferens Art Gallery from 7th – 19th October... IT’S FREE
I wish I had a bit more time to design this video, I only had a week to record the sound, edit it and design the video. It will be aired on the BBC Big screen over the next few weeks.

The Evil Dead (2010)

As soon as I found out there was going to be a remake of "The Evil Dead" I took it upon myself to design something typographic with the word “BOOMSTICK!” in it.
No word on the actors as of yet but you know Bruce Campbell is going to be making an appearance... well I hope so anyway. It’s going to be directed by the legendary Sam Raimi... again. It looks like we are going to have to wait another year to find out if he out does the original.
